Redwine, this is a list of problems that I have encountered when testing the new version:

1) The story title of an article does not allow any punctuation to be entered. When punctuation is entered in the story title box it is automatically deleted. I have noticed punctation shows up in the story titles when using RSS feeds.

2) When there is a space entered or left after the story title for an article and the story is submitted, the URL shows (-) at the end. When the article is edited and the space is removed from the end of the story title, the URL corrects.

3) When using functions such as delete or backspace in the Description text box during article submission, I have noticed this keeps putting cursor at the end of the sentence or text and becomes very difficult to edit. In other words, if a have a sentence typed and I want to edit it, when the cursour is at the beginning of the sentence and one character is deleted, the cursor automatically jumps to the end of the sentence. Same thing happens when using backspace - it automatically puts the cursor to the back of the sentence.

4) The number of votes before story is sent to the front page => when set to 1 (from 5) from dashboard, no stories appear on the front page.

I appreciate your time in reviewing or analysing the above. Thank you.

John,

"1) The story title of an article does not allow any punctuation to be entered. When punctuation is entered in the title box it is automatically deletes. I have noticed punctation shows up in the story titles when using RSS feeds."

I don't see it as a bug. A bug is when the feature breaks or does not deliver what it is intended to deliver. In the title's case, it does not affect anything at all!

If you wish to add punctuation to the tile, there is a jQuery code that you can edit

1- /templates/bootstrap/submit_step_2_center.tpl
edit lines 330 and 342

by removing what you want to appear in the title. Example: to allow a period and exclamation mark:

Change this on line 330:

re = /[`~!@#$%^&*()|+=?;:'",.<>\{\}\[\]\\\/]/gi;

To

re = /[`~@#$%^&*()|+=?;:'",<>\{\}\[\]\\\/]/gi;

And on line 342:
Change this:

var dataFull = data.replace(/[`~!@#$%^&*()|+=?;:'",.<>\{\}\[\]\\\/]/gi, '');

To

var dataFull = data.replace(/[`~@#$%^&*()|+=?;:'",<>\{\}\[\]\\\/]/gi, '');

You also have to edit the/templates/bootstrap/edit_submission_center.tpl

by editing the lines 179 and 191 the same way.

***********************************************

"2) When there is a space entered or left after the story title for an article and the story is submitted, the URL shows (-) at the end. When the article is edited and the space is removed from the end of the story title, the URL corrects."

Again, this is not a bug because title URL works and when from the story view you click the title, it takes you to the original source story. Nothing is affected and does not even affect SEO.

Anyway, if you wish to remove the space (trim the title), I have included a WinMerge report to show you what you have to edit in /submit.php and /editlink.php.

https://www.plikli.com/img/editlink-php.htm

********************************************************

"3) When using functions such as delete or backspace in the Description text box during article submission, I have noticed this keeps putting cursor at the end of the sentence or entered text and becomes very difficult edit. In other words, if a have a sentence typed and I want to edit, when the cursour is at the beginning of the sentence and one character is deleted, the cursor automatically jumps to the end of the sentence. Same thing happens when using backspace - it automatically puts the cursor to the back of the sentence."

I couldn't replicate the issue. When delete or backspace any place in the description textarea, at the beginning, in the middle and wherever, the cursor stays where it is you are deleting or backspacing!

********************************************************

"4) The number of votes before story is sent to the front page => when set to 1 (from 5) from dashboard, no stories appear on the front page."

It is working flawlessly in all PHP versions and all the browsers! I set the Votes to publish to 1 (make sure when you click the filed, to see the save and cancel buttons and then change the value and click save). The article I submitted showed up immediately on the home (published) page!

Redwine, thanks for the help. I should probably reinstall the script again - I am having issues that I didn't have before. I didn't know how to word it and I used the word "bug". My apologies. Have a good day!

Thanks for the support. Regarding #4 that we discussed, any new listings or submission will be affected when vote number is changed prior to those submissions. Any prior submissions will not be affected after changing setting. Hope that helps. Thanks.

Yes this is how it is intended to do, since Pligg time; only the new submitted stories will be affected.
Imagine a huge database (I have one almost 400 mb just for the links table) and the process has to readjust all the links every time the value is changed.

So far, the possible way to apply the change, is when a story is edited, after the votes to publish has been changed.

Maybe I can give it some thoughts and assess the impact if I make it run and change all the stories statuses after changing the value!

I know and I am glad that I can count on you!

With regards to this:
"2) When there is a space entered or left after the story title for an article and the story is submitted, the URL shows (-) at the end. When the article is edited and the space is removed from the end of the story title, the URL corrects."

I applied a fix to it and files are available on Plikli GitHub:
https://github.com/Plikli-CMS/Plikli-CMS/commit/47e068eda807bc238ad5cb229829ef33fcb87a2e

If you want to apply the modifications manually, then check the link above.

If you want to just copy the new files (3 files) and paste them over the the old ones, then these are the links to the individual files where you can select all the content and open the relevant file in your current installation and paste it over and save.

/editlink.php
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Plikli-CMS/Plikli-CMS/master/editlink.php

/libs/link.php
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Plikli-CMS/Plikli-CMS/master/libs/link.php

/submit.php
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Plikli-CMS/Plikli-CMS/master/submit.php

NOTE that the modified files also include a fix which I am going to post in the bug reports forum. It consists of tags inserted by RSS Import module, containing an apostrophe which is causing a query error.
