I have the CKEditor and the links module installed, but it is not converting urls to links. I have the convert links in comments & stories, make links rel='nofollow', and Allowed to All level users? options enabled. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the module and clearing the template cache, but it is still not working.

Links Module does not work with cKEditor Module. The latter takes over the content and comment textarea and dynamically converts them to its own usage, which Links Modules cannot access. You have to use one module but not both together.

That makes sense, thank you. Maybe a notification in the plugin config would be useful, that the extensions are not compatible with each other.

Hmm, I was looking through CKEditor again and saw this bit:

When you want to include an Image, Youtube or Facebook video and audio URLs, just paste or type the URL in the content and the Links Module will Embed video and audio URLs and if the URL is for an image (gif, png, jpg), it will be wrapped with the image tag to render it. Any other loose URL will be converted to a link!
All this is done upon displaying the story and the content will not be modified and therefore no risks of having an iframe in the saved description, thus no need to add iframe, img and a in the allowed HTML tags!

So since CKEditor says not to include the a tag, is there no way to do links in comments and stories with it enabled?

My bad, it's been a long time since I used cKeditor module, and I forgot that I altered the cKeditor module to also work with links module.

I just tried them both activated on 2 of my Plikli instances and the demo site of softaculous from the top menu bar on the forum. It works very well and links are converted accordingly.

1- Install the links module and check all the settings checkboxes and the one that says "Allowed to All level users? (If you check this, there is no need to check the below ones)"

2- install ckeditor module.

3-in the info field of the ckeditor module, it tells you "This module is only loaded when HTML is allowed in Dashboard -> Settings -> Submit (See the readme file)"

4- go to Dashboard -> Settings -> Submit -> HTML tags to allow for HTML tags to allow to Normal users
Dashboard -> Settings -> Submit -> HTML tags to allow for Moderators
Dashboard -> Settings -> Submit -> HTML tags to allow for Admins

and paste the HTML tags that are provided, and make sure you see the save button to save the new settings.

Now go to submit and try it. I must work.

So I uninstalled both modules, reinstalled the links module, enabled all the options except convert youtube and facebook urls to an embedded iframe, checked allowed to all level users and saved.

Enabled ckeditor, and added the recommended HTML tags for normal users, moderators and admins, saving for each one. Cleared the template cache again.

Then I tried posting a new comment with a link, but it is still showing up as plain text. CKeditor is working fine, the formatting is showing up as expected.

Here is a link to one of my Plikli instances where you can check that the Links and cKEditor modules are working together, for the story content and the comments.
